There are few things worse than the feeling of being cheated on. Imagine you eagerly join a Network Marketing or MLM (Multi Level Marketing) business and work your little butt off to build a team. Through your hard work, you find that elusive "golden ticket" (someone who has the same work ethic as you) and is recruiting people left, right and centre with a vision to "blow up" their business. You sculpt and mentor them and put in a lot of time and effort with them. Because you are a decent, ethical person, you teach them all the "right" ways of doing things and advise them of all the unethical practices that some unscrupulous "bad apples" stain the profession with and bring network marketing or mlm - multi level marketing into disrepute, and then your company or another top leader or worse still, your own leader brings someone in, or takes the very person you have been mentoring and positions them above you, effectively rubbishing all the work that you have done on your own business and your "golden ticket" because the unethical Network Marketing company OR MLM allows, behind the scenes, this unethical, unprofessional, anger inducing Genealogy Manipulation to go on. All of a sudden your downline is now your up-line - what a disgraceful act of deceit, of unethical behaviour, of cheating practices and of genealogy (geneology) manipulation.

When network marketing or mlm - multi level marketing companies allow this practice to happen it brings the whole professional network marketing/mlm industry into disrepute.

Hello, and welcome to part two of a four-part video series where I delve into the behind-the-scenes aspects, or let's call it the less favorable practices, in the world of network marketing. Specifically, this video focuses on genealogy (geneology) manipulation and the unfair advantage that top network marketing leaders may have over you.

So what is Genealogy (some spell it Geneology) Manipulation? And why should you care about it and make sure your own Network Marketing or Multi Level Marketing - MLM don't do it or allow it to happen?

It's a practice in network marketing or mlm where leaders don't necessarily start at the bottom of an organization, as often recommended. Instead, they may be strategically placed near the top, or big leaders negotiate positions within existing organizations. They may receive a predetermined volume of points, and this is closely tied to the concept of Business Development Agreements (BDAs), which I discuss here: https://youtu.be/TFtbU6ZCdWc

Allow me to share a personal story that illustrates this practice. Several years ago, in a company with a binary compensation plan, I noticed a woman in my organization who, despite being relatively new to network marketing, was achieving ranks that seemed disproportionate to her actual volume. Upon questioning, I discovered that she had been strategically placed above me in the genealogy. (geneology)

This experience left me disillusioned as it contradicted the foundational principle of network marketing / mlm – building your organization two by two. Instead, a leader with potential volume was removed and positioned at the top, receiving my organization's volume. This is an unethical practice, and it's important to be aware of such occurrences.

Another dirty little secret in the industry is that when a leader joins a new company or negotiates a BDA (Business Development Agreement) they may also secure a top position in the organization. Companies may create positions that can be filled as the organization grows, giving these leaders a significant advantage in terms of volume. This practice is unfair to the average network marketer who may not be aware that such manipulations are taking place.

While any distributor can still succeed in network marketing / mlm, it's crucial not to be misled by the idea that recruiting a leader will automatically benefit your downline. Big leaders often negotiate for positions above, rather than joining at the bottom. I, personally, refuse to join any company that engages in genealogy manipulation or creates top positions for leaders. I recommend having conversations with the CEO or top distributor of a company to understand their stance on this issue.
