On the internet, starting an eCommerce business often looks simple — choose a product, run ads, and start making sales. But when I tried to actually begin, I realized that the reality is very different. There are several practical and financial challenges that come up before you even launch your first product.
In this video, I discuss 7 real problems that stopped me from starting my eCommerce business:
Starting confusion and investment uncertainty – not knowing how to begin or how much money to invest as a beginner.
Market saturation and extreme competition – many sellers already selling the same product at very competitive prices.
High sourcing cost – the price at which I could source products was almost the same as the price others were selling them for. #ecommerce #ecommercebusiness #amazonseller #ecom
Risk of losing money on ads – when sourcing cost is high, running ads becomes financially risky.
Product price not justified – if a product doesn’t justify a higher price, even ads cannot help generate sales.
Pressure to sell trending products – feeling forced to sell products that are already trending because non-trending products may not sell even with ads.
Importing and logistics trust issues – confusion and lack of clear guidance on importing products from China through platforms like Alibaba, especially when dealing with shipping partners and trade assurance concerns.
This video is not a success story. It’s a raw and honest look at the early stage of building an eCommerce business.
